Sick of My Odd Shoes!!!

So, Sorry that you have all had to look at my odd shoes for so long! My darling big sister Robbie has been up for a visit from Victoria for a few days and she said " For goodness sake get something new on your blog I am sick of those odd shoes". Now I could be really mean a put an embarrasing photo of her on here but I know she would pay me back and would have lots more dreadful photos of me!!!! So instead here is a photo we had taken a few years ago. With all the memorials for Michael Jackson and the dignified way his family have behaved I thought it was a good time to celebrate family.

We had lots of fun with the other stall holders. Here is a pic of the girls from Reines Rascals giving each other a shoulder rub. I think Cheryl on the right is missing out.

HOPE YOUR MOTHER'S DAY WAS FUN!

Thought you would like to see what we get up to for Mother's Day here on our beautiful Sunshine Coast. We were lucky enough to be able to have a picnic on Chambers Island. A little island in the middle of the Maroochy River. Of course whenever my Mum comes to a picnic she always makes something super yummy and sweet! So here are her cupcakes with Wild Violets on top.

Cupcakes

My darling hubby brought all the picnic baskets and chairs over to the island in his tinny. We all walked over on the little pedestrian bridge. Some of the family enjoyed some fishing although nothing was caught!

As you can see my youngest Toby just loves his Nana.

Nanandtoby

Mind you Nana's word is final but she really is a softy with the Grandchildren. Rather like the stitchery pattern we have Nanny's Rules

Hope you had a lovely day with family as we did.

Don't forget to come and visit me this weekend in Toowomba at the Autumn Home and Stitches Show..

I have just put some more photos from the Quilter's Trail in the album too so take a peek.

A GOOD READ

Mariachallenge250

We are delighted with this new book by Margaret A Rowe. It is a good read for any patchworker. Written by a lady based in Melbourne in Victoria. If you love the Jennifer Chiaverini books then you will enjoy this one too. It is all about a group of patchworking friends, their lives and the callenge they take on in their Guild for the Maria Challenge. Based loosely around fact and Elizabeth Fry who taught convict women to sew as well as supplying them with stitching tools and fabric. This one has a truly Aussie flavour as well as even a steamy love scene. We have a few copies on our website and think it would make a great Mothers Day gift.If you hear of any good reads I would love to hear about them!

QUILTERS TRAIL AND MORE!

It has been too long since I got a chance to let you know what we are up to. First of all look who I found stocking up on DMC threads in the shop the other day.

Sueandlynette

That's right it's Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busy Fingers and Lynette Anderson from Lynette Anderson Designs.

After the girls had chosen what they needed. We headed over the road to the bakery for a quick lunch. Was great to have a chance for a quick catchup with these two innovative local designers. Of course Sue and I are planning Angels In Teacups for August. I beleive the accomadation is already booked out but there is space for the Day Long High Tea and Stitching on Saturday.

We have been so very busy with the Quilter's Trail and on Friday our first bus went on a road trip to Esk, Gatton, Indooropilly and Eaton's Hill.Yes, that is me with the bus dressed as none other than the tooth fairy! I must say I got a few funny looks as I walked through Gatton from Sew Creative to the park for lunch.

Pabus250

There are a couple of spaces left on the bus for this coming Friday so if you live locally give us a call on 5477 0700 to join in the fun visiting Cooroy, Clontarf and Caboolture of course there is bubbles back at the shop at the end of the day! Have a look at the photo album for lots more photos of the Quilter's Trail and don't forget to join us at the muster at the end of May.

The girls in the shop have all been rather challenged with our new register system and we are really missing our Lee who is on holidays for 2 weeks. We hope she comes back all refreshed and ready for anything!

Happy Stitching,

QUILTER'S TRAIL HAS BEGUN

Yes, the QUILTER'S TRAIL has begun and we had a lovely day yesterday. The theme is "In your Pajamas' so we dressed as Bed Bugs. Unfortunatley Jenny was not on duty but don't worry I'll get a pic of her later in the week. Can you see Lee's Tshirt the slogan is "Rather be Stitching than Sleeping" and of course they are butterfly headbands we are wearing. We used the cute bugs from the Doodlebugs Quilt for our tshirts.

QT4

We had  4 buses visit our shop. Our first vist was from the ladies with Lisa from Heavenly Patchwork in Clontarf, closely followed by the ladies with Claudia from Quilt Essentials in Eatons Hill. We then had a bus arrive which we thought were from Esk but after alot of confusion discovered they were a group from Ipswich having a fun weekend away. Next came Ken and the ladies from Twilight Craft in Esk. Ken was dressed as Wee Willy Winky. Here's a pic of him with our Lee.

QT7

Here is a pic of our version of Fluffy slippers.

QT5

And here is Susannah practising being a Bed Bug in front of the Quilter's Trail Quilt. Yes, I know you can't see her face she is being a bed bug!

Qt6

There are lots more photos in the Quilter's Trail album so keep checking back to see updates.

There is still time to get a group of friends together and register for the Trail.

Our Lucky March winners on the website were Denise from NZ and Denise from WA. Don't ask me how the number selector chose 2 Denise's but it must be a lucky sign!

Don't forget that this months prize is

So place your order on the website to go in the draw for April.

PATCHWORK IS MORE THAN JUST QUILTS

This is a phrase I often use as there are more and more people using the beautiful patchwork fabrics for clothing and decorator items. They were even talking on the Sunrise Show this morning about that Craft is in and is a way of surviving the World Economic Crisis.

So, thought it was a great time to show a couple of projects made by some of our lovely ladies. Gail is a member of our OFO (Unfinished Objects) Class and is always inovative and very creative in her projects. Here she is modelling her new Dressing Gown or Brunch Coat she has made from Kaffe Fasset fabrics. She has used an embroiderd panel she found on one of her overseas trips to use as the focal point. She has made a nightie to match which our Fiona the class tutor is displaying.

Gailsnightwearback

Gailsnightwear

Another customer was in recently with some orphan blocks she had. She decided to adapt the pattern for the Gym and Swim Tote to make this fun bag and use her blocks.

Gymandswimtote

Last Saturday we ran a FREE class at the shop for the Stack and Slash Star technique. Sandi from Emboideroo was one of the 6 ladies who attended. We had a fun morning learning this easy technique even though Glen claimed it's not! Sandi is a local designer and you will probably already have seen her Kookaburra Christmas pattern on our website. Here's a pic of Sandi making her stars. She is making her quilt for the Bush Fire Appeal. We think the blocks look great don't you?

Sandi

In front of Sandi are some books by the girls from Buggy Barn who have taken this technique of Stack and Slash to the extreme.

Worked at the shop all yesterday afternoon getting it ready for the Quilter's Trail which starts on Wednesday the 1st. Will show you some pics soon.

Have also listed a new Photo Album  of Judie B's Design class. This really challenges the girls to step up to the next level in their projects. we will offer this class again later this year.

Until next time,
